Brilliant choice! This is why I'm glad they're taking their time on this album. The more they refine, the shinier the diamond gets. If Whitney and Clive can pull off a great "whitney houston" classic album with a modern twist then this fan will be over the moon. Someone mentioned Amy Winehouse....Amy's sound owes a huge debt of gratitude to the likes of 60s singers like Cissy Houston, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield,etc.....So OF COURSE Whitney should record with her...

I guess on second thought, Cry to Me would be a great song for Whitney to record, as you mentioned JP, it would create buzz. Just like Usher's Confessions CD, there was a lot of buzz about some of his songs, before they were even released and he sold 1 million copies the first week.

..and to whomever mentioned Whitney adopting the "Amy Whinehouse sound"...i second that. Mark Ronson is no joke...i hope he gets on this disc. Whitney, even in her darker times, has this "polished" quality to her vocal. She tries to hide it with runs and extra stuff, but the classical influence is always evident.

So, again, Im imagining:

polished vocals combined with raw production...could be magic. MLIYL was a step in this direction..except the voice...

...this def fits Whitney's "raw" edge, as of late. You all know she has a way of turning obscure songs into POP anthems.

Im imagining her performing this in the vein of the LOVERMAN, MY MAN performance from BB awards 1991. Cry To Me lends itself to that big band/orchestra sound. But it would be a great departure if she did it in a "stripped down" manner..ala..."Yes" from MLIYL album.

Rumor or not... its a good song.

Whitney needs to have people talk about the tracks on the album. A song like this will have people speculating, creates a buzz! I just want her to sing!

Maybe Whitney HAS felt that about Bobby and that is probably why she could sing the CRAP out of it! They have both moved on, I'm not worried about people wondering who she is singing about. Only hardcore fans think about who WHITNEY sings about. Most people just listen to a song and figure out how it relates to THEM.

On the flipside, IF Whitney were to record this song, everybody and there momma would be saying "Oh she's taking about Bobby" or "She wants to get back with Bobby". I like the song, but I just don't know. You know how some people are.

The music is very classic, I can hear her do an amazing job on this track, it is simply beautiful and lets her use her voice. It is so perfect I really hope they can lay some serious vocals... Dare I say they should use the old track... but you know it will be upgraded like IWALY you was changed from country to what it become.

Great choice, whoever came up with this idea. True or not it is just what Whitney and her fans need.

I listen to the song and I fall in love...Wow wow wow what a diamond!!
I believe that the album can be a mix of modern hit producer song but also old classic songs...think about the Amy Winehouse album...the people L O V E the style. Please let it be true Clive!

I like this song. It seem like something Cissy would sing, and i think because the lady voice reminds me of cissy's style. But if Whitney did it....it would be great and i can hear Cissy backing her up on this because i know Cissy can hollar and whoaaaaaaaaaaaa....lol.

The longer the album takes to complete the more important it becomes -- the more people/fans expect. Pretty much this album will be compared to her best selling albums. At this point the album will be a *special* addition to her catalogue of music & will speak to the legacy of Whitney Houston's career in music.
