Clearly they are not chasing after the Hot 100 with the first single, they are chasing album sales. I too wanted a hot single, but a ballad WILL bring back old
Whitney fans. Even my 49 year old momma who got me into Whitney is so excited about the new album and she fell off after MLIYL. If this ballad hits big with
adult stations(which it will) then she's gonna have one hell of a first week sales. Because as much as the young folks(like myself) wants to jam some new
Whitney and shake our ass in the clubs, its the ballad thats going to make me people say "there's the Whitney I love". It's the ballad
that's going to connect with people emotionally and make them want to go out and buy the album. So if this news is true, I'll put away my frown and
accept it and embrace, i'll save the ass shaking for later lol.

I do agree with you! In the end of the day Whitney is most know for her clear range, power, and ability to move you through a ballad. If it is a ballad or a uptempo they choose to release it is going to be HOT! This album is going to be great and can not wait to buy that new Whitney single. I am so so excited. I feeling it more and more everyday. My girl is coming back with a vengence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

NO! I want Whitney to be herself alone in her returning single. Leave duets for sometime later. Let Whitney, only Whitney, and nothing more than Whitney, be
heard in her comeback.

Dionne is not recording anything for this album. The album is complete and I doubt Whitney trying to go back in studio to record more songs. Dionne must be
talking about Whitney recording for one her albums or a future album.

That kind of ballad would completely flop at radio. BELIEVE ME. It would only get play on AC stations, maybe urban AC. That's about it.
If they released the David Foster produced ballad for the older/AC fans ALONG WITH a hot, uptempo/midtempo summer jam for Rhythmic/Pop radio at the same time like Beyonce did with If I Were A Boy/Single Ladies, I'd be fine with that. I have to wonder if Roger is confused, though? He's saying that Alicia Keys produced "Million Dollar Bill,"... but didn't Swizz say on twitter that HE did that song? I thought Alicia Keys produced a completely different song? |

I think Mill Dollar Bill is a solo, Alicia produced- thats what I got from the report.
I'm starting to come round to a ballad being the first single- I think it will silence critics about her voice and create buzz for the album. If she sounds good people will think Whitney is back, and will not doubt the quality of the album. Maybe they are trying to showcase her vocals? Also, with MLIYL album they released WYB first and then went for the hot songs - HH, INRBIO etc. |

I think the Johnta Austin song, "Call You Tonight" would be a great single choice (judging from the demo).

I heard that song is actually alot edgier than the demo, production wise

Calling You Tonight sounds like a filler- an average one at that.

It's clear that IF the Warren ballad is released, the campaign is not about hitting the top of the Hot 100 as soon as possible, at least not in a
conventional way. These folks are gearing for a true comeback, with legs to go the distance. A strong Ballad, which is what Whitney is well known for, will
silence any doubts as to whether she still has THAT voice. It's not about getting folks to think of her as the new hot thing, but to remind people that
this is WHITHEY freaking HOUSTON, and that she's in the house, in fine form, and BACK. And let's not mingle words,
Houston's comeback hinges on her VOICE first and foremost. She doesn't have to sound like she did at her height, but she's still got to impress. So
it should speak volumes that they're opening with a ballad, about what they believe about the state of her voice on record.
Something is brewing folks, and let us look for a moment beyond sales, top 10 records, and all of that such. They have something to prove here, and there is no clearer, more concise way to make their point than throwing a big Whitney ballad at you. The uptempto grooves will follow, indeed they must, but let the folks cut a rug first, let them sell Houston's VOICE first and foremost. Everything else will fall into place after that. There is more to marketing then doing what's "in"; sometimes you've got to do what's "right". |

I don't care what anyone says that Million Dollar Bill song is hot! I also know that R Kelly song is probably hot too! Whitney and Clive know they know
how to pick the best producers and best materials. The only thing I regret is that Whitney did not do something with Darkchild again. That Its Not Right But
Ok was hot as hell and still anthem in the gay clubs. I am so excited about this Whitney album!

MC and other divas need to that because they know if it was based on their voice they would not make the charts. Whitney is much more polished than all that. Of course this album will have number one songs, but I can accept the first single may not reach number 1. I think a ballad with crystal clear vocals would shut up a lot of critics and folks that say she can't sing anymore, or she lost her VOICE. This is not a Just Whitney type of album, that was produced by LA Reid. This a polished album produced by the best producers in the industry. Clive and Whitney want this album to be remembered 20 years from now....... |

If they're releasing a ballad first they obviously want to show off her voice FIRST and foremost -- before trying to shoot to the top of the charts. |

Tetotal wrote: I don't think so at all. The general public seems to also love it (based on the reviews on youtube). It would definately fit in with radio today, all while being very "Whitney sounding." You have to also think that this is JUST the demo... the actual recorded song will not sound just like the demo. There will be some extra adlibs, it'll be more polished sounding, the production may be a bit different. I can't wait to hear Whitney's version of it. |
