I don't think he is choosing the comments because I see a negative comment on there.

People are soooo quick to read the tabloids and run with the stories of Whitney as if they are Gospel. We finally get a song where she is opening up and some
overlook that and go right for the "voice".
Fact: Like I Never Left = apology to fans (honest and open) Fact: I Didnt Know My Own Strength = self awareness and admittance being at a low point (honest and open) Whitney voice is UNMISTAKABLE and its ever-present. I can pull songs off MLIYL that sound quite similar in tone and delivery. I'm glad the negativity on this board does not reflect world opinion! This is Whitney's time....the song is triumphant and epic if not for the message alone. People know that Whitney has been to hell and back and she sounds like someone who is making her way out of the dark. While opinions are just, all the negativity is really unwarranted. When people say Whitney is "back" they mean just that. She is coherent, motivated and ready to promote her project. Her voice is limited, but in no way is it BAD... i mean, half of the pop stars that we like cant even do what Whitney does at this point in her life. Didnt u all watch the BET awards??? This is her competition...and dont even bring up Mariah, because its just laughable. YOU DONT HAVE TO SCREAM A SONG INTO THE HIGH HEAVENS TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS. Sometimes less is more... Whitney's core fan base is the gay community. It was smart to attract them first. We all know that gay individuals have the most, in terms of disposable income. So...we have endless videos of clubs going bananas over the song, with commentary. Then you come here and hear negativity...from people who werent even there and are listening to a cell phone recording on youtube. UGHH!!! lol I'm sure no one will probably answer me, but Ill still pose the question: For all those who are disappointed..give an example of what would make you happy. How would you want Whitney to sound? I mean, do u want more inflections, higher notes..DO YOU ALL REALLY VALUE TECHNICAL PROWESS OVER SUBSTANCE AND EMOTION? That is what got Whitney in trouble int he first place. Whitney: "love me or leave me..."

Great song, very good voice, loved it, and was more than I expected.
The remix, though, is a shame. I don't see it as a successful single, however. Let's wait to hear what David Foster brought to the song. |

I still think this is a big mistake by arista though. i mean why would you put out something that can be recorded by a crappy cellphone at a gay club, that you
KNOW a fan was gonna record it for the world to hear a "Exclusive" on it. Another thing the mix was absolutely horrible. there was no lasting value
in that mix at all. Common sense would be to release the actual original recording by david foster production and THEN do the mix at the damn clubs. its was
completely backward and a missed opportunity. i mean even IF I didn't know my own strength is not the first single, why even entertain a one time deal
premiere at a gay clubs without no sign of the original track right now? give us the original song. The ONLY reason for the mixed reactions for the most part
is because we don't have the damn song yet. Leak the song arista, whether its the first single or not its too late now. RELEASE THE DAMN SONG ARISTA.
RELEASE the damn song arista |

I love the vocals and i am very hard on whitney's vocals. I hated the MLIYL Album. I am really enjoying her vocals on this album. They are not goaty like
before.

I started to read thru this thread but by the time I got to page 4 I could no longer take all of the melodrama from some of the typical posters on here...that
poor woman...nothing she does will ever be good enough for some people unless she sounds like the BG days...GIVE IT A REST!! Whitney sounds fine...I'm not
worried at all...I will wait to hear the original track once released but some of u need to just take a chill pill...

Considering the circumstances, I am personally content with Whitney's take and vocals on the song. Judging from what I'm hearing now and from what
we've heard from comments from people who attended the listening parties, I don't think the song is a huge sweeping ballad but rather a slow but
heartfelt tune in the same vain as Exhale or as someone else posted here, Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven. We've had numerous discussions of the state
of Whitney's voice and we've all established that she does not sound like she did back in the days. Whether that is a good thing or bad thing is
entirely up to the person listening to Whitney. As I stated, I am content and feel that she sounds good, clear and is in control of her voice. I don't hear
any breathing or gasping for air when tackling the song. Compared to OW, JW or MLIYL, I'd say she's up there or is on par for comparison sake. We
obviously can't really make more analysis or comparison because of the quality and the missing accompanying music. As pointed out by most, the clip is the
accapella version with Jr. Vazquez throwing random beats that he's used for other remixes he's done in the past. I think that he was experimenting, if
anything. And the fact that Peter Raufman(?) premiered the song (in a dub format), Jr. Vazquez wasn't about to let Peter take all the lime light. My
initial impressions are VERY GOOD! I love her take on certain words on the song or lines (sorry for not knowing the terminology), but "i crashed
dooown" and "and i cruumbleedd"! Definitely shows emotion and conviction. I read in another thread that Peter is putting the finishing touches
on the song per his facebook status. He even called it the single. Does this confirm that it could possibly the first single? I for one am personally excited.
At this point who cares if the single is banging uptempo, a sweeping ballad or a heartfelt poem. I just want to hear Whitney serenade us!

I think what some people here are forgetting is that Whitney is going to have to perform her singles live. I personally would rather her releasing a very
beautiful ballad or a very beautiful uptempo song, where she sounds beautiful, but doesn't necessarly have to hit incredible high notes. That way, when she
performs these songs, she and we don't have to worry all the time wether she will be able to deliver. Don't you think she's tired of singing all
these power ballads? She has plenty of them, but her voice is not what it used to so instead of torturing herself while trying to recapture the past, I think
it's wise to release nice songs but that don't need hug vocals. For example the MLIYL album was a big success and the songs released did not have huge
vocals : MLIYL, INRBIO and HH. Yet she was successful and when she performed live she was great, much better sounding then when she attempted huge songs from
her past like IWALY or GLOA. Even her ballad from that album ILFTB was vintage Whitney, but didn't really have "huge" vocals, it was lower in
range but still powerful and beautiful. So I think with the D. Foster production of the song "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and with the real
good remixes, it could have potential to be big. It sounds like a nice ballad with some clear beautiful vocals, strong but not huge, something that will make
Whitney comeback without having the pressure to hit some huge notes everytime she sings. Otherwise, might as well go for the route that Celine & Mariah
did, and lipsynch those big notes. I doubt Whitney, a true singer & live performer, will sink to that level. I can't wait to hear the real song, I have
no doubt that it will be beautiful and touching, and the real remixes will be off the chain (like they always are).

I think she sounded great...sounded like raw studio work with no over tunes...whitney will be just fine and I like the song. If it was not good trust me media
outlets would have gotten hold of it and would have tore it down by now.
WAY TO GO WHITNEY NOW GIVE US A DAM COMPLETE SONG!! |

You guys are stupid if you think these are the whole vocals to song. She is not even building so these are just some of the adlibs and not the whole original
vocals.

I haven't listened to it...prefer to wait for an official single. Read through the posts and it seems like there are differing opinions (as usual). I will
wait to make my own conclusions when I have the opportunity to hear a finished version of this or any other song.

That remix is TERRIBLE. The music is too much and doesn't flow with her vocals AT ALL. I'm just not a big fan of these same-sounding dance remixes
anyway,
HOWEVER, I blocked the music out of my head and just listened to the vocals.... they were obviously sped up, but I think she sounds FABULOUS! The way she sang, "CRUUUUUMBLE" |

Also can i add that the vocals are chopped up alot. This is not the final song so people are judging it far too soon.
