I must say since the death of my Hero I haven't really been in the best of moods. I haven't really been listening to anything but him, which I'm
used to anyway so its really not that far out of the ordinary for me. This I must say has brighten my spirits! Her voice is stronger than it has been its
changed but I'm sure with time she'll be able to build on that find her spaces again and knock us out! I'm really comparing this project to MJBs
Love & Life; Mary sounded better but hadn't quite figure out how to use it again yet but by the time Breakthrough came she had it! Sad thing is, sorry
lambs, she still sounds a lot better than Mariah lol....damn shame. Love her still though Memoirs Aug 25!

Funny how many people on here, not necessarily you, are saying that Clive and Co. need to think outside the box... and then the first thing that many of them say is that to be successful her first single needs to be upbeat. That's so "in-the-box." If you understand anything about the music industry, you know it's fickle. There is no WINNING formula outside of good music and EXCELLENT promotion. We have the music, now lets market the hell out of this product. Promotion is what's going to take Whitney to the top. Not the tempo of the track. |

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 NEW MUSIC PREVIEW! Whitney Houston - I Didn't Know My Own Strength [First Single] src: http://twt.gs/zITKwe Here's the first look at Whitney Houston's new single "I Didn't Know My Own Strength", which was premiered Junior Vasquez during a gay pride event. He obviously has the acapella and has put it over some other dance instrumental (a Mariah Carey one I think), because I don't think this is the official club mix, but expect Whitney's vocals to sound exactly like this on the single version. The song was written by balladeer Diane Warren and produced by David Foster (I Will Always Love You) so check it out below. Nice, very touching. There's a chance it could be a little boring but I think with the right instrumental it'll be fantastic. Whitney sounds very understated and beautiful, her vocals are so smooth and I love it. She obviously hasn't gone for a big belter and wants to sneak in through the back door, similar to when Janet Jackson dropped "That's The Way Love Goes" back in 1993. Whether half-Whit can still sing or not is a whole nother question, but it's safe to say that she sounds wonderful, with or without the power vocals. It really doesn't matter if it hits the blogs. The official first single aired on radio and video will have a bigger impact. So it being on blogs
doesn't bother me. Even though it is not a good sample. And it won't hurt Whitney because this will be old news by the end on the week. Thats the
beauty of the blog world.

If everyone would SHUT UP for one minute you'll notice that many of the comments on youtube are positive and the mostly everyone is pleased with the way
she sounds.
JV MESSED BIG TIME but he is not playing the actual song sooo the only thing you can truly judge are partly the words and partly the way she sounds. It is not the actual song ..it is her vocals and some funky offbeat tunes he through behind IT..SO WHY IS EVERYONE BITCHING??? |

You know what...After a few listens..and especially this version McWorld just posted...I'm starting to feel this song a lil....I'm sure its gonna be
much better with music and background vocals put in....We are basically listening to a song without background singing....Every song will song like this to be
honest...This cannont be the final touches...I'm really eager to hear the final piece!

This is why they should have released the proper song first instead of giving the vocals for someone to create a crap remix. They've done this all
back-to-front and it doesn't make any sense.

Those fake Whitney fans that are actually MCC fans BACK OFF....for real!!! Whitney is working her butt off, giving her best and you people like CW and mcworld

By accounts she will release two singles "Million Dollar Bill" and "My own strength" - I just hope the other song is the bomb as thats what
she needs as a first single.

Three quick points: 1) The opinions of fans (and anti-fans) who visit Whitney sites and blogs are not at all a reliable indication of how the general public
will react to the golden-voiced diva's new material. The blogosphere is too much of a pressure cooker, populated by intense fans with massive investments
(not all of them well-intended). Those biases make it risky business to take the opinions bandied about here as a bell whether for general opinion. To be sure,
the viewpoints articulated here provide some evidence of how core fans might react to the music. But theirs is a distorted reflection at best. 2) It seems
pretty silly to make definitive pronouncements about the quality of the vocal performance and production of the supposed first single IDKMOS on the basis of a
club remix--and an unfinished one at that. The kind of rush to judgment I've noticed in some of the opinions here are exactly why it would be unwise to
take the opinions of bloggers and web fanatics too seriously. Don't get me wrong. There's enough vocal substance in the remix to venture a speculative
opinion. But that's about it. Nothing on which I would be willing to stake a firm claim. But yet here are folks again making bold pronouncements and quick
dismissals of a song they have not heard in its actual form. 3) It's clear that a handful of Mariah Carey fans are doing a great deal of lurking here,
perhaps spending more time at this site than at the ones dedicated to their favorite diva. A curious and longstanding phenomenon, to be sure. It smacks of
insecurity. I'll grant that some Carey fans--the so-called lambs--may be genuine Whitney fans as well and quite interested in her music as well. Some are
decidedly not and it's plain to see. But whatever the case, it seems silly for genuine Whitney fans at this site to take these potential troublemakers so
seriously, cede so much ground to them in opinion formation, and let them hijack the discussions of the new material. It's probably best to take their
opinions and comments with a grain of salt--or ignore them altogether.

I agree there are lambs who are spreading negativity about Whitney on other blogs, but it's bc Whitney's hasn't been a threat to them all decade
but now things are different, a sober Whitney is a force to be reckon with. And while they may not admit, deep down they know that once Whitney gets out and
about, Mariah will get very little attention. However I must say that I am a Mariah fan, and do visit Friends of Mariah, and there are quite a few lambs who
are actually rooting for Whitney and even defending her against some of the attacks she's getting over there

From what little I can tell based on what I've heard, "Strength's" vocals are wonderful. I'd like to hear David Foster's version. The
remix by Vasquez is completely uninspired.

I agree, I also noticed that either Arista is reading this board, or great minds just think alike. Because, we've all been saying for the past few years, that Whitney needs great songs that suite her new voice. And this song sounds like it could be it, vocals alone, I can already tell this is one song, i'm not going to have to cross my fingers for when Whitney performs it live. In fact, I know Whitney is going to tear a hole in this everytime she performs it! |

I don`t understand why Mariah is so mentioned here. Both ladies are DIVAS. But they are in different music routes TODAY. Though both is still having real
success.
Back to the tpc...this is a unfinished product so why all these premature conclusions??? Let´s wait please!!!! |
|||
YESSSSSS I CAN'T WAIT. Honestly, I don't think she's gonna come back big on the charts. I can't see Whitney and what she has to offer (other than drama) going anywhere like No1 on Billboard. Her album might be No1 for a week or so, but I really don't see any kind of major success. But hopefully she proves me wrong because I'd love to see her diva side come back with a vengance!!
To be honest I think she could do better than Mariah. She's already higher on the pre-orders than Mimi, and Mimis albums is cheaper!
It's ok, sound rather boring, I guess..
PRoph you sound like perez comparing presales on amazon like they have any weighing on the billboard charts! You sounds really amateur when you make comments of that nature!
Ps this song is so fucking boring! It wont even make the hot 100!
What, when I state facts that more people are pre-ordering Whitneys more expensive album than Mariahs? Umm ok.
it sounds so boring and un-innovative...
she really gotta step up her game cuz those 90's sound ballads are SO OVER
Please- Whitney is done, over, finished, she has been for a long time! She needs to shape up or ship out!
