I'm posting this again because I don't think you guys heard me the first time, I SAID...

People, as much as I hate to say this but, who gives a flip about the young R&B/Pop demographic? Yes I am young myself (or at least I consider myself young) but don't be deceived by charts people. Having number one songs on charts doesn't always equate to making more money. As much as the charts are important, they aren't that important in the grand scheme of things for her first single (even though I DO think IDKMOS will chart) nor for her comeback. Stop trying to think in terms of hype or catchiness.

As a business, Arista has to market to the BUYING public not necessarily the listening public. I know someone now who is a big fan of Whitney but all she does is burn people's cds and NEVER buys a Whitney album. Market research has supported the fact that group of people who have contributed the most in actual album SALES are people over 45. They are most likely the people to buy whole albums in CD format as opposed to just buying singles from itunes, burning a song, or ripping from limewire type programs and not buying it at all. This song will appeal to the people that it needs to appeal to. They have a target audience for this song and unfortunately, it probably isn't geared directly towards you but to an older demographic

Arista is more likely to loose money if they put too much effort into marketing to the younger audience for a comeback, at least in the initial stages. Young buyers are too fickle and can't be depended on to sustain album sales at the prices they are charging. The middle aged to older audience is the demographic more likely to have disposable income and to be loyal to the point where it translates into dollars. I've seen the market research that supports this. Please look at the big picture from a business point of view and not a listener/chart-follower/fan point of view. They are trying to make money from the people who are statistically more likely to give them the money. Remember, the purpose of the single is to promote the ALBUM as well as Whitney. She will chart with the other singles if she doesn't with this one but this first single may have to serve as the sacrificial lamb so that Whitney can reconnect with her older and WORLDWIDE fans. Think outside of your sphere.
