This is business and Whitney has a lot riding on this come back. Charts are very important and if she can't sell than her career is over. Why you think
they are taking their time with this project. If they didn't care about sales and charts then the album would have been out along time ago. The song is
dated and is not strong enough to be a lead off single. Her voice is great on the song and all but raido will not play it. Nobody is asking Whitney to sound
like beyonce or anybody else. Mliyl singles where hits mostly dude to the club remixes and they were hot and fresh. If they can't fine a single off this
new album then they need to take if I told you that off mliyl album and remix and use it for the first single. They still play that song in the clubs and that
song is ten years old. If they really want to go with a ballad then use try It on my own. Whitney can add some new vocals to that song make it fresh and there
you go a hit single. That was a great ballad that never really had a chance because of what our girl was dealing with at the time. Now she is ready for her
spot she got to come hard. The next album she can do whatever she wants to but this album
is a make or break and they know this. |

A discussion is only valid when Arista makes the official statement that this song is the lead single. I'm all for debat and sharing thoughts but the
timing right now... is off.

Speaking in TIOMO, i think that this song has the same message that IDKMOS, and both could be part of the new traklisting of her nex Concert!

You want Whitney to be a racer, not a musician. Also I never mean you people asking Whitney to sound like Beyonce or anybody else. |

Maybe they just released this song just to have it out there, they know this song will have no impact on the charts but its at least out there and just who
like it like it and those who don't don't. I can say that alot of people on the net seem to like it and feel connected to it, I like it but FAR from
love it, it needs some more work in my opinion

Absolutely hated it…then I actually listened to it!
|
On first listen, I hated it. What a drab first single I thought. Then I kept listening to it, I stopped looking for the hook or the beat and just listened to the words and THAT VOICE and it struck me that I have become so desensitised to modern music I've stopped actually listening to words and voices, just focusing and appreciating the beats. When I listen to the song now I can connect so song much with it, I'm still not convinced that it will be a hit but this is the song we, the fans, needed to hear and bloody hell, this song just hits me right in my heart. I think its such an important and universal concept, I've been in a situation recently where its only been when I've removed myself from it, that I've really understood what a fool I was and how I was wrecking everything and finally got the courage to move beyond it and at times I never thought I had that courage and doubted myself. The line that really got me was at around 1.10minutes "held my head up high", That's the HARDEST thing to do, when you've embarrassed yourself in front of others, it takes the greatest strength, I love the fact that Whitney doesn't sound like she didn't in 1985 or 1994, I don't look or think like I did a decade or two decades ago and I wouldn't want Whitney to either, I say leave the youth obsession to Madonna, Cher and Joan Rivers, I love the "life" that you can hear in Whitney Houston's voice, I love the fact that she's lived, yeah she's made a mess of things at times but who hasn't? For all these reasons I really wanna see Whitney rediscover "Greatest Love of All", think of the meaning and emotion she could imbed in that song now! |

This could be a theme song, she'll perform this song at all the promotional stops, but this isn't the song they are pushing on the charts, that one review said the "unnoficial" song |

Don't come at me like that. The damn song is just not good enough for a single. Those that are making music and not selling is not WH.They are not super
stars nor do they have a name they are not brands. Like it or not WH is a brand that must sell and sell well. Those people that your talking about don't
have a 100 million dollars contracts. WH company is banking on her to make money. If they wanted WH with subpar albums and singles sales the album would have
been out. Those people that your talking about making good music and not selling maybe true but sweetie ain't nobody checking for them. Whitney has the
world at her feet waiting for he return. She has to bring it hard and I'm sure Whitney wants her throne back. If she didn't she would have long time
retired and move somewhere and live a quite life out of the spotlight.

I just want them to confirm if it's gonna be the first single or not. It hasn't been confirmed yet right? Maybe it's not even gonna be on the
album.. I'm also not really liking the idea of Whitney going more old school. Am I the only one?

No you're not, im liking the song more and more, it should be on the album but like the closing track, people actually like it and are finding hope in it, so definitely include it on the album, but Official First Single NOOOO! |

Why does it matter if it #100 or #1 in the charts?

If she didn't she would have long time retired and move somewhere and live a quite life out of the spotlight."A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold" The name Whitney Houston is secure, she doesn't need to compete with Rihanna on the charts anymore because nobody in the current musical climate can ever compete with a name like Whitney Houston. What I think we've seen with Janet Jackson in particular in reason years that a desperate need to remain "current" has actually alienated her core fanbase, the Janet fans who bought "Control" are now middle aged and don't wanna hear her talking about how moist she is! I'm 26 years old, I don't wanna see Madonna, a woman who is two years younger than my mother grinding up against Justin Timberlake and singing pop drivel that Ciara could have released. I'm not even gonna go there with Mariah, I have teenage cousins who show more maturity! I love the fact that Whitney Houston is being herself, she's not trying to be 22, she's a woman whose lived, you can hear that in her voice and lyrics. |

Whatever and when this new album flops like JW did I will be right here when the bitching starts just like eveyone loved JW and when it flopped it was now
Whitney's worst album ever. You can fool yourself into thinking charts don't matter it does, WH don't even bother to sing a single song from that
album in fact she treats it like it never happen I wonder why.Charts are important my friends.

Speaking in TIOMO, i think that this song has the same message that IDKMOS, and both could be part of the new traklisting of her nex Concert!i don't think those two songs carry the same message, or at least they do only to a certain degree...in "On my own" there's still that certain "gangsta" factor in lyrics such as "i'm gonna keep it real", it's like she's saying "i'm going to prove you that i can make it alone anyway because i'm Whitney and i don't need those fuckers around me tryin' to guide me"...on the other hand in "My own strenght" in my opinion she also tries to redempt herself for her past mistakes, it's still a song about inner strenght but the fragile and human side somehow appears in "lost touch with my soul", "lost sight of my dreams", "cry through the night", "crush down and toumble" |

Why are people wishing so much negativity onto Whitney already? Why talk about the album flopping when you don't even have an official word on anything
yet? I guess I cannot fathom spending my time on a message board for an artist I can't be bothered to support even in words.

What about Madonna covering songs from Confessions on the Dance Floor? I doubt it. Once an album flops, the artist moves on. |

OT - well, Madonna does cover her Confessions material a lot - just to be precise...and the album was a success, not a flop...her American Life album was a
failure...
