Ok so I have listened to the track about 100 times, according to iTunes, since it was released on Thursday...obsessive I know.

There is no way that this is the final version of the song, the production is somewhat sloppy and there are places where David Foster would have definitely cleaned up her vocals or at least made her take another pass at it. The part near the end where she is signing in the background also sounds a little off, I cannot place way though, it is just the way it sounds to me. Clive would not let this be the final version. He is the man with the "Golden Ear", he would not be satisfied with this as the final product. I can't even imagine how much he spent on this track alone given the fees for Foster and Warren. I also think me might hear some of those higher notes in the final version, maybe in the beginning and and also at the very end? Given that she was just in LA it would not surprise me if she was putting the final touches on the Foster tracks, this one in addition to the 2 others that are rumored.

This must be the demo. I think the final version will be much more polished, lush and produced. This is David Foster after all, he does not know the meaning of understated. Think back to the 2 versions of IBIYAM. The version he produced was much more over the top than the film version.

I am confident that when we hear the final version of this song that it will be much different than what we are listening to today. The vocals will be stronger for sure, this was done in February. Since then she has done a massive amount of recording. Her cords are most likely much more "in shape" now. If you think about it, this is the first time in several years when she has done this much singing over a 6-9 month period. I am guessing her voice sounds clearer today. Her speaking voice is much clearer which is a good indication of where she is vocally.

I love the song though. I love the message. This is her most personal track to date. She really lays it out there. She is admitting her mistakes, her faults to the world. I think the track is even more poignant given the passing of MJ. I am sure the events of the last couple of weeks was a wake-up call to Whitney. Look at the Whitney we knew 5 years ago and the Whitney we see today, they are polar opposites. I know she has so much to give us with this new album, I also think she has something to prove to the world, the naysayers and most importantly herself. Right now is a great time to be a Whitney fan. We have never seen promotion like this for any of her albums. We have never seen her take so much time putting together an album. I think over the next 18 months we are in store for a lot of surprises and "Classic Whitney" moments.

I actually sent the track over to a friend of mine who is a diehard Mariah fan. Here is what he had to say:

"It didn't like it at first, but now it's rather personal. Though
commercially, I see it following the path of Mariah's Through the Rain
moreso than Gloria's Coming Out of the Dark."

I thought that it was funny that he brought up "Through The Rain" like a lot of people here have done as well.

The drama when she sings this live is going to be sick. Just Whitney on the stage, total darkness with a single spotlight on her, very simple. Would love to see her open the Grammys with this. Will be so awesome seeing her do this live.

She has come full circle and I am so happy she finally "knows her own strength", I am pulling for her and will support her every step of the way.
