DJ/producer Ryan Skyy has released a 2014 remix of Whitney Houston’s ‘Queen of the Night’ in celebration of the upcoming Lifetime TV biopic, due to air in 2015.
‘Queen of the Night’ was Houston’s fifth #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, and comes from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. Skyy has given the upbeat song a modern twist, saying that he thought “Whitney was in need of a 2014 revival.”
The release is also celebrating the 2015 Lifetime biopic of the star, directed by actress Angela Bassett in her directorial debut, with Yaya DaCosta set to play the singer. The film is set to chronicle Houston’s turbulent relationship with Bobby Brown, through to their eventual divorce. Bassett has said of the film:
"I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."
There’s both a radio edit and an extended club mix of the song, and you can listen to both right here.
