After listening twice, I probably won't get it now unless I can find one for $5 bucks and under. I just don't like an album that's mellow all the way through. I bores me to no end. This is one of the reasons I don't like Whitney's, "One Wish: The Holiday Album".

Platinum Posts: 1589 Jun 20 07 7:45 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It's really weird to see so many people refer to this album as a "Jazz" album since it's a tribute to Dinah Washington, who is the Queen of the Blues even though her catalog ranges from Jazz, R&B, Blues, and Pop. I think that may be the problem with this cd. It just sounds like a regular Jazz cd from start to finish. Dinah was a very bombastic singer and performer, I just wish Deborah could've channeled more of that and added more UMPH to the cd, if you get what I mean. I'm sure this album will grow on me immensely within the next six months. Nonetheless, I think Deborah sounds wonderful and I'm glad she took on this project. I just wish more people would recognize her talent as well as the legacy of Dinah Washington.

When did Deborah proclaim herself to be a jazz singer? She has specifically stated the album is a tribute to Dinah and how it was her intent to bring further awareness to Dinah's legacy and the music she left behind. If anything, this album is more in the tradition of the big band music. Deb hardly gets love on this board and this topic is just further indication of that. Perhaps we should focus more on Amy Drunkhouse.

DCox doesn't get respect on this board because she isn't drunk, high, or showin her ass in her videos. Thus, she's not considered relevant. Doing a tribute CD is something that popular artists rarely do, as so few of them have the chops or musical experience to pull it off. I respect Deborah for following her muse @ the moment... Her voice is close to flawless, which isn't the norm for a jazz/blues record. But she's got one of those voices-like Whitney-that one can never tire of.

I for one am a big Deborah fan. I have all her albums and have seen her 3 times in concert. She's a great vocal talent, and in my mind she is relevant. She not one of the big dogs, but she is great at what she does.

I've read the board as an outsider for years and she's usually always getting criticized for one thing or another. Like someone said earlier, if you're not walking around drunk or shaking a tailfeather, you're no good.

It's not some classic masterpiece that will be remembered for all the ages, but Deborah Cox does the songs justice. She should be proud of herself. I have to say I've always regarded Deborah Cox as a bit of a non entity although I did quite like her early 2 hit sinles ('Sentimental' and 'Who Do You Love'). On recommendation, I picked up 'Destination Moon' and was pleasantly surprised. Deborah Cox' voice has developed character and depth. A mate of mine has called it a kind of post 'My Love Is Your Love' Whitney sound and I have to say I really do hear it. At times, the CD grabbed my attention at how easily this could be Whitney right after the MLIYL project. Rated and recommended. m.

She performed he ass off and sounded wonderful... However, if you ever see her live, you would think it were Whitney on stage. The perform EXACTLY the same way. Even down to Whitney's signature bow(which is in the MLIYL book).
