Whitney sings "tell me no and I'll show you I can" "tell me no and I'll dig my feet right in" "every word just gives me fuel" " tell me I cant win I'm sure I'll prove you wrong" "aint gone stop till I'm number 1" "motivates me more and more" And, on "Whatchulookinat" a song she co-wrote she sings, "still gonna be me" "my following is real strong" "try to show whole world what I do" "now I'm turning the cameras back on you" " same spotlight that gave me fame" Whitney knows.... what the media has said what it has done to her fans, family, public perception of her AND she told everyone in the songs "Whatchulookinat" and "Tell me No" what she is going to do when she wants to do it. 2008-This 7th Studio Album with her and Clive is the album were these lyrics will and are/is becoming TRUE. Whitney has been working on this album singing for atleast 1-year (Sony/BMG confirmed Whitney started May 2007 or 1mth prior). Whitney knows....she's gonna come correct and her lyrics of "Just Whitney" will come alive. I'm ready for Whitney to reach that # 1 and I know her following is real strong and I am one in her following. So, What do you guyz think of the lyrics of these two songs, "Whatchulookinat" and "Tell Me No," What line do you like from each or both songs? What motivates you more and more?

I thought a lot about whitneys lyrics... I think all the songs she sang came true in her life or will come true one day like: where do broken hearts go? dindn't we almost have it all? iwaly: I'm not the one you need, so good bye, please don't cry...(and so one) I learned from the best heartbreakhotel try it on my own all lyrics are like scenes from her life...

Plus,the irony that she couldn't come up with the goods via performances or promotion wise or by being number 1 sort of makes me cringe at them even more than I originally did. If she comes out NOW with lyris about self-empowerement and survival I will be very happy...as they are born out of her sobriety and newfound healthy outlook.

Whitney's whole demeanor during this album period echoed the sentiments she expressed in these two songs. She was especially arrogant and defiant at that time. And considering the countless issues she must have faced (miscarriage, marital probs, drugs, etc.), it's understandable that her best efforts at holding her life together and concealing her demons would come across as they did. Still, IMO, this album served as sad evidence that some serious issues were afoot. I personally think she conveyed arrogance in her flat denial that anything at all was wrong, despite the mounting and repeated evidence that some things clearly were. Think about it: The three singles she/Arista chose to release from this album - Whatchulookinat, TMN and TIOMO, were all songs of defiance. She maintained this tone in the face of drug, spousal abuse and other related rumors, even when directly questioned about them. I don't hold any of Whitney's woes against her. But, like Stephanie, I would much rather her 'preach-and-promote' self-empowerment and survival from a place of authenticity than as a hypocrite.

When everyone has counted you out, that gives you the motivation to look inside yourself, dig deep, and come back with a vengeance to prove them wrong. I believe someone on this board sent that song to Serena Williams either before or after last year's Australian Open when her ranking had fallen out of the top 100 due to injuries and being off the tour. Well she showed the naysayers by defeating 4 seeded players including Maria Sharapova in the finals. She mentioned in an interview that "Tell Me No" helped in giving her the inspiration to show the world that she was still one of if not the best female tennis player in the world. "Whatchulookinat" is more of a tongue in cheek fun song. It's fun to listen to and sing along with and the video is just hilarious!

I especially don't like the poor spelling of the song title. I like the lyrics to "Tell Me No", that song would make a good comeback single for this upcoming album if its sung better.

You cant help but think 'Tell Me No' is something Bobby was in the back smoking 'something' (I use the term loosely because we all know Bobby NEVER did that) and saying 'Yeah they hatin on you, tell em you dont give a...' when deep down she needed someone to tell her 'NO!'. Not to say I dont like the album, but that album now would mean a whole lot more.

The song titles speaks for them self's, and the album is like a relationship period but also a person feeling what they feeling in relation to the album.

Its the same defiance she showed during the Diana Sawyer interview when questioned about her own admissions. It was a dark time in her life, and the album reflects that in more ways than it probably should...

Which makes it a personal album. At that time she seemed to be blaming the media for some of her problems and I think she wanted to try to take control of her life around that time peroid. I wonder if that album was one of the things that really got her thinking about how bad things were getting.
