OT. US Presidential Primaries |
Lead | |
|
The race to become President starts today with the caucus for Iowa. I'm hoping that Barack Obama can do it.

I'm going for Obama!!! He just took the lead in the latest Iowa poll. Edwards moved up to #2 and Hillary fell to #3. But it is still so close that nobody knows who will win this first state.

Quote: as a Republican I so hope that Huckabee does not get the nomination. He epitomizes everthing that has gone wrong with the party. Who need 4 more years of narrow minded, hate filled double talk? Sadly, the choices on the Republican side aren't very good. McCain maybe, Guilianni possibly... I do like Paul but he hasn't got a shot. I might step to the dark side this next election and give Obama a try. |

Quote: Thing is one poll says one thing and another says something different, so I don't think anyone is taking anything for granted. The problem with Obama's support is that he relies on a lot of young people, who are the least likely group to vote. |

Overall, I'm hoping Romney wins the (R) vote. Obama does rely on a lot of young voters as well, and it doesn't hurt that there are several thousand out-of-state college students that won't be around to vote. I wouldn't be surprised if he won Iowa, but I'm still thinking Clinton will narrowly escape as the victor of Iowa.

Huckabee, Romney and Giuliiani are a toss for me. Giuliani will always have my vote because of the 9/11 and how he cleaned up NY (plus he is a good damn lawyer). However, he won't get much vote in Iowa considering how conservative Iowa is. That is why Huckabee and Romney lead the Republican party.

1) If you are not a NYer, you can not say what Guiliani did on 9/11. Truth is - he ran like the rest of us. He is a racist punk who's ratings were severly low on Sept 10 2001. It seems everyone loves him except NYers. LOL
2) His own kids don't even support him for President 3) I'm waiting for those pictures of him in drag to come out. The national press will have a field day with those. |

Those pictures have been shown on tv so, it couldn't do anymore harm for Guliani.

They haven't been in rotation as heavily as the bernie Kerik story though. If he makes it to the general elction we'll see alot more of them.

The title might be a little misleading unless it's planned to keep it going for the rest of the year. "Presidential Primaries" would be more accurate.
Final reports from Iowa: Obama = 37% Edwards = 30% Clinton = 30% Obama was favored by 41% of the independent voters (Hillary was amongst the 17% of others) and apparently 54% of the young votes (18-24yrs.) If you ask me though, I'm very suspicious of those so called "independent voters" as many of them were in primarily conservative areas. New Hampshire, the next state, has even more independent voters. The big positives for Obama is that he's seen as more trustworthy (than Hillary or Edwards) because he brings no dirty laundry, and that he's willing to work with all sides. Remains to be seen if Cinderella will be invited to the ball when it comes to the general election if he gets the Democratic nomination. The black vote in other parts of the country is going to be crucial for him in the comings weeks. Is America really ready to elect a black man even if he's the best candidate by miles?...and Yes! I'll say it...I'm very suspecicious of those "independent voters." Warning! Don't discount the role that the media plays in all this. |

Re: OT. The US Presidential Election | ||

I think this is all done to scare Hillary a little - however, i think people are fooling themselves if they think this black man stands a chance against someone like McCain (who many think will eventually get the GOP nomination) - how do you beat someone who is an American Hero and who had the best judgements from day 1 about the war in Iraq (saying at first not to go then jumping on board then saying we needed a surge - people called him crazy for that - then the surge and then the success) so far all of McCain's sideline predictions have come true and if he even does well in New Hampshire, skit will hit the fan.

Quote: YES! As shown by Iowa, one of the WHITEST states in the country. And I DO believe he could beat John McCain. An honestly, John McCain has a real uphill battle if he wants to win the primary. But I really think he is the only Republican that COULD beat the Democratic nominee. That said, people want CHANGE. And Obama can give us CHANGE. His "downfall" of lack of experience is actually the OPPOSITE for me. The other old bags have been in the game so long that they have been corrupted by the system. I'm glad Obama won Iowa and I DO believe America is ready for a black President. They aren't ready for a black ACTIVIST president (Jesse James and Al Sharpton) but they/we ARE ready for a black president. I think even a few years ago people hoped Colin Powell would run and many thought he could have won. |
