You can call Obama's strategy and speeches "kool-aide" as long as you want. But the fact is that on ISSUES that concern this country, him and Hillary Clinton are nearly identical. And I, as an Obama supporter, DO realize that not everyone prefers him as a candidate. This is America. That is why we vote. But to cast a vote for McCain over Obama only shows that you don't vote on issues.

The state party has voted to sign on to a plan devised a week-and-a-half ago by the working group seeking ways to end the impasse, including Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, Sen. Carl Levin, Democratic National Committee Member Debbie Dingell and United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger. The group urged the Democratic National Committee to seat the Michigan delegation under a formula that would give a 10-delegate edge to Hillary Clinton, and allow all 157 delegates and superdelegates to be seated this summer. Clinton was the only major candidate to appear on the ballot in the state's January contest, which she won with 55 percent of the vote. No delegates were awarded because of national party penalties on Michigan Democrats for moving up their primary date. He needs to get this Michigan/Florida thing resolved as soon as possible. This is really a fair deal for both candidates, as far as I can tell. And Obama can spare the 10 delegates Clinton would gain out of this. And then only Florida would be left to resolve.

I agree that this situation needs to be resolved sooner rather than later but I also don't really think its fair since his name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan.

The fact that close to 40% of voters chose "uncommitted" and went out JUST to vote "uncommitted" shows that Obama clearly would have gotten a decent number of votes if people actually had the OPTION to go out and vote for him. I'm sure many voters on BOTH sides did not go out to vote because Obama was not on the ballot. Many Clinton supporters probably felt they didn't need to support her since she had no competition. And Obama supporters obviously had nobody to vote for. We will never know for sure what COULD have been or WOULD have been for either candidate. But at this point, if Hillary is ok with this, I think Obama should take the deal and put this issue with Michigan AWAY.

Hillary, on the other hand, will NOT be a smart choice for Obama. The "blue collar" workers she claims to have a grip on will more than likely vote for Obama in the general election without her help. She bring on a lot of hate and animosity from the Republicans. It would be added baggage that Obama doesn't need. He would be smart to pick someone with a military background and/or someone who can help him win a large, important state. And although Mayor Bloomberg of NYC doesn't really fit either of those categories (that I'm aware), I would still LOVE that ticket.

If that was the case they would have voted overwhelmingly for Kerry in 2004. The Clintons were smart enough to know that in order for the Dems to win they needed to court these voters because they are swing voters in states like PA and OH. If Kerry would have won OH then we wouldnt have had a second term of Bush. I guess that is why Bill Clinton was the only Democratic president in the last 30 years because they understand how to win a general election. But the left wing of the Democratic party has hijacked the pary because Hiillary voted along with 77 other Senators that gave Bush the authorization to go to war. Clintons will always have a part in politics and if Obama is the nominee he will need the Clintons campaiging for him. Bill Clinton helped Kerry win PA. I will vote for Obama but I am preparing myself for a McCain presidency. Howard Dean is TERRIBLE for the Democratic party. His handling of FL and MI is the testimony to the fact. What is interesting how some the Dems are calling for Hillary to drop out the race when several states havent even voted yet but was the same party saying count the votes in 2000 with Gore vs. Bush. And now the same party arent even counting the votes in the states of FL and MI. After this election, I am really considering changing my voter registration to Independent because I am not pleased with the direction of the party ( Nancy Pelosi and Move.org).

I think many are trying to hold Dean up just because of MI and FL as others are blaming him for the situation. I think Dean's problems go beyond just that situation....some here have suppose that because Dean helped to 'create a national bottom up strategy' which has had some success that he should therefore remain the head of the party. First although I agreed with Dean's election as head of the party at that time, and his strategy has shown some legs, many have felt and I agree that the party should have won many more races in 2006. An example is the senate race in Tennesse; Harold Ford Jr had a huge lead in that state for months ahead of the election, we know that is basically a red state, yet the state was lost by Republican attack ads which anyone with ounce of sense knew they were going to run. The party basically took a nose dive and did little of nothing to help him., or course Ford ran almost a perfect campaign until the last few weeks, after the ads started to run. Need I mention the congressional races in areas that clearly were not happy with the Republican congress and President yet the party still fail to win the races. Maintaining a simple majority is not good enough, moderates like Joseph Lieberman ( he endosed McCain months ago)have left the party, and is a wild card, are not happy with the very liberal approach of the party. My overall point is Dean has failed to really handle either camps the Obama , Clintons or the Congress who have played a big role in this race. I think I would give him a C+. I really worry about his strategy going forward, truth is I like Dean but there is not a lot to cheer about yet, let's see in November.

Well at least they've learned one thing from 2000; not to override the will of the people and allow the person with the fewest votes to win again; Hallelujah!!! I don't believe in a blind allegiance to any political party. Democrats aren't right just because they're democrats and conversely, republicans aren't wrong simply because they're republicans. If you're in line with that kind of thinking and can actually see the good and bad in both parties you probably should switch to Independent. Nancy may have lost you as a fan, but I've never been more proud of her. Hillary should look at her and take note.

That Rangel is something else. I understand that this is his last term. He's done a lot of good things for Harlem, no doubt. But he's absolutely right, she needs to sit her ass down. At one point I thought she was nobel for hanging in there now she's becoming a pain. Your already personally 11 million in the hole, her colleagues or industry insiders were right to tell her to concede the race. She made history she just underestimated her opponent. He ran a fiscally and strategically tighter race that overwhelmed her from the bottom (grassroots) up. She needs to bow out, endorse Barack and heal the riff in their party. He's gonna need all the help he can get, that senior citizen is not going to be a walk in the park to beat. LOL!
