...tonight I had dinner with several of my closest friends, as we usually do. Today we had arranged the night was gonna be dedicated to DIVAS. So each one
would bring a live performance of his preferred diva. The host loves Mariah, so he played a track of her latest live DVD, "My all". Some other
brought Barbra Streisand's performances, mainly from Timeless concert (which I also love. Barbra is SOOO astonishing.. ), others brought stuff from
Beyonce, Rihanna and Cher. Me, of course, brought one Whitney acting...""I love you Porgy/And I am telling you/ I have nothing", from AMAs
1994........you can not imagine WHAT A MOMENT during the playing of the performance....my friends were all in silence, listening to her...they were kinda
astonished...only silence invaded the room during the performance, suddenly interrupted by expressions like "what a voice"; "incredible";
"she is eating herself the stage",....and several like this...I think they were shocked. They couldn't imagine something like this.
And then I was proud of my (yours) Whitney Houston. |

yep, that's definitely a performance that has the power to convert folks! haha. it's just because her overwhelming confidence, presence, VOICE, talent,
persona, everything -- it was just perfect. PERFECT. it's a performance that will never be replicated by anyone, imo.
another i love to show folks is whitney performing "Home" on Merv Griffin. just the raw, unaffected talent is so evident. thanks, Urkonejo, for the positive post. |

That medly (sp) is close to the best ever! I love that performance. Incredible! A close second is TGLOA at the Arista Anniversary. Honorable mention is WDIHSB
live. Breathtaking!

Great story!! Yeah that performance Billboard Awards 91, GLOA Arista 15th pretty much closes any debate on who's the best singer ever.

Thanks for sharing. Your post actually made me feel a little nostalgic. Back home in Cali, two good friends in I would often get together and have
"Diva" weekends. Nothing bonds friends like good music- and when it comes to live music, no one does it better than Whitney!

That's my favorite live performance. You get a gorgeous Whitney, in the best voice of her life, so poised, audience adoring her, doing great songs, for 11
minutes! I wish Arista/BMG (with AMA's permission, I guess) would find a way to release it on DVD, or as a high-quality download that you can watch
full-screen.

The vocals are one thing but to SEE it is so unreal. I love that SHE knows that she is killin it. Another, not so talked about, performance I adore is
"Song for You" from WHH. She just sits there and KILLS that song.

yeah that performance @ billboard 91 is one of Whit's most underrated performances but I think that was another stellar one. she performed that Barbra
Streisand song like no one's business then sang the heck out of ATM!!

NippyLoveChild wrote:LOL! That is so true. When Whitney knows she is singing her tail off, you can't tell that heffa nothing. It's effortless beauty and power rolled up into the best and badest diva ever! |
