Your "Nothing But Love Tour" Experiences
I know a lot of people here saw Whitney on tour and i thought it would be great to hear your tour experiences ... Heres mine
My first Whitney show. Expectations were high and she delivered. I was front row at this show (dream come true) and moments before the concert started Krissi came out and was stood right in front of me with Nick. I got the opportunity to speak to them both which was great. They are both super nice people. Whitney should be proud.
You all know what the show was like. her voice soared and her high notes had me in tears, i never thought id hear Whitney sing like that again and i feel privileged to have her sing them amazing notes in "A Song For You" right in front of me. (Those who have seen my video will know she looks at me while im completely lost for words. unable to form any kind of sentence haha).
A couple of personal highlights in the show was during "Its not right but its ok" when she's stood in front of me and im going crazy and she laughs and then looks straight at me smiling and sings "keyyyyyyy" in a beautiful head note. Bliss.
Another would be when she is talking about changing her clothes and i shout at the top of my lungs "You Look Sexy Whitney" and she looks at me, smiled and laughed lol! Amazing!
I was 8 rows back at this show, so it gave me the chance to be close but be able to see the whole staging as a whole. And it does look really good.
Before the show Nick was walking past, i waved and he remembered me, came over and patted me on the back. That was nice of him as he didn't have to do that.
I knew we were in for a good concert with the live notes on "Nothin' But Love" but nothing had prepared me for what she did next. "I Look To You" Nottingham is probably the greatest version of the song on the whole tour. I still get goosebumps when i watch. Just WOW!
Vocally she was amazing in Nottingham. "I learned from the best" is another performance i think was her best of the tour for those big belts. she had the arena shaking!
As with all the concerts i attended i stand throughout the whole show (even during Gary and the backing singers version of "Queen of The Night") and I loved that they noticed and gave me and my mate lots of smiles for doing it.
After the show we went round the back of the arena to try and see Whitney (obviously she was long gone) so hung around for a bit longer. Had a lovely chat with Trey and some of the other dancers, and even got a brief chat with Gary in which i sang part of "For the Love of you" at him. He smiled but looked rather lost trying to find his ride to the hotel lol.
I arrived in London and decided to head straight to the Dorchester to do some Whitney spotting. We managed to see Pat and some of Whitney's staff but sadly no Whitney. On the day of the show we headed to the Dorchester again to see if we could get a glimpse. And this time we were in luck! Whitney's car pulled up and she got out looking great in jeans, boots, jacket, big hair and sunglasses. I shouted "Love You Whitney!!!" and she turned, smiled, Waved and said "Hey!" before heading into the hotel.
The show itself i knew from the get go her voice wasn't as strong. her head voice was not there but she gave it her all and there were still moments vocally that took my breath away. The london crowd was awful with walk outs but even though we were quite far back we stayed standing throughout, screamed with the delusional belief she could hear us and still had an amazing time.
Manchester 1st Night
Well what can i say, Whitney was on fire! she was in such a great mood. The arena was full of love and support and she knew it. The show was vocally great but her energy made the show superb. Her high energy performances of "My Love IS Your Love" the "Change my Jacket song" (lol love u for that Whitney) and "Its Not Right But Its Ok" had me so pumped it was untrue.
"I Will Always Love You" she nailed. The climax was strong and the whole arena was with her. You only need to watch videos for "I Look To You" and "I Will Always Love You" to see.
During the show Krissi was out as well and as i was 3rd row i could see her clearly. People will know that shes very nice to the fans and if you wave, she will wave back. During the Love Medley I glanced over and she saw me, so i waved and she waved back. Then my friend was like "Sean, Krissi is trying to get your attention.." so i looked over and she was waving and lipping "Are you Sean?" so i replied "yes" and she was like "OMG! Hey!" and then told her mate Ashley who i was. Surreal.
"A Song For You" I had my moment. I was poised with my Whitney/MJ banner to hold up. I held it high when she started and then she noticed it. She looked confused at first as she was reading it, then she smiled said "I love you too. Thank You" and that made my life. to have her say that to me meant everything....Oh and to then realise my banner was on the big screen was great. spreading the MJ message of L.O.V.E! haha!
Manchester 2nd Night
In the morning me and my friend went to the Lowry (Where Whitney was staying) and decided to get brunch there. On the way we bumped into Gary, Gary Jnr, Pat and some other of the crew as they were off into town for some shopping. They were pleasant, said hello etc.
Sadly we didn't see Whitney in the Lowry but did see Big Bob getting into an elevator. Was soooo tempted to jump in after him lol.
The final show i was 2nd row centre and it was brilliant. One of her best shows (as you all know). The Manchester crowd was fully behind her and again i managed to get some cool Whitney one on one's lol!
Just before the chorus on "I Look To You" I shouted at the top of my lungs "I Love You Whitney!!!" she looked down at me, smiled and then said "I Love You Too" I could have died (again)!
During "A Song For You" i held my banner up again. This time i got no spoken thanks or screen time but Whitney did see it and put her hand on her heart and smiled at me. That was more than enough to let me know how she felt.
During "I Love The Lord" everyone kind of sits down but as ive mentioned earlier i remained standing. and was the only one round me that did. Whitney saw this and looked directly at me at parts. Having Whitney sing gospel, that close to u, whilst she looks at u is...words can not describe. As i sang the harmonies along with the backing singers she smiled and right at the end of the song she blew a kiss at me and lipped "Thank you".
Whitney had my eyes tearing up during "I didn't know my own strength". After that speech about the tour i was gone. EMOTIONAL!
The ending was great. "Million Dollar Bill" with all the crew and Krissi etc all dancing. A great way to end the European tour! So many memories i will never forget!
During my Whitney travels ive met some amazing people (you know who you are ) and would just like to say thank you for making the whole experience that bit more enjoyable
Anyways i just thought id share my experience with you all. Happy to answer ne questions and would also love to hear any of your tour experiences
