The songs she sung were "Greatest Love of All" and "People" (originally by Barbara Streisand, who actually was in attendance at this same event). I haven't found the entire performance just a small video clip of her singing it. Here are the clips:

Isn't this event where she sang an unreleased track that was for her Greatest Hits collection that was supposed to be released in 1994? The Collection was going to have 9 new songs but was shelved but she went on to the WTE project instead. That's what I read somewhere but since she went with WTE the song was given to Tevin Campbell and Whitney's recording of it was the demo. I forgot the sing though but it was pretty an something about musinc in the world or something Anyway, Great Find. I was born in 1990 so I was too young to remember this. And people act like Beyonce is ruling the world -__- They must not know Whitney's history.

Whitney has truly sang for those who are shakers and makers of this world of hours. I have to say that I do miss that petite frame of hers. As much as I want to be correct, i cannot help it that she looks awesome without an ounce of fat. And lord have mercy, you wonder why her vocals struggled as she gets older, look at her neck and see all those veins and muscles at work... i mean she really put them muscles to work back then! I hope one day that Whitney can sing for Barrack Obama and when she does, I hope that voice is right there and is as powerful as ever! I feel that people do not understand what positive effects the actions of Obama will have in the future. He putting Americans back to being that power it once was... it's still in the infancy stage, but unfortunately, his greatness will only be understood when he is long left the office. So this is possibly one of the last greats that I hope Whitney Houston gets to perform for! Can we start a petition when we have an event in mind. For heaven sakes, Nelson Mandela requested her!

They did all of the arrangement, drum programming, etc. One only need to read the liner notes if they have this album.

I think it is beyond great that Whintey "Requested" to perform for one of the great men on the 20th century. Would love to have been in that room, wonder if Mandela was thinking of leaving Winnie while embracing Whitney, lol. But LOL at someone suggest Obama is one of the last greats we may have coming along, if that is the case this country is in serious trouble. While I have no problem (and would like) with Whitney performing for Obama I don't think his "greatness" would be the reason for doing so.

Whitney was actually 4 hours late for this performance and when she finally arrived she apologised and said she just came off your but infact her tour ended several days prior.

By the standards of the golden days of yore she does struggle vocally - especially obvious in the finale of GLOA ("iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin" is just a tad away from going off track and is clearly overpushed/forced - she revived this note and nailed it in Japan three years later btw) but the energy and grandeur of her Voice is so overwhelming that detail hardly matters. Wonderful footage and Whitney is obviously enjoying singing for Nelson! Bravo The Voice!

It marks a wonderful moment in Whitney's legendary career when she was on top of her game and on top of the world. Everything she did then was golden and this performance was too. I'm glad she has such a wonderful memory on which to draw when she reflects on her miraculous career. It's a shame how people nitpick every performance and sometimes inadvertently (or intentionally?) piss on even the smallest parade. Not to say that Whitney is beyond criticism or objective scrutiny. But pointing on admittedly inconsequential issues seems so out of place in a thread of this kind. If you think she sounds fantastic or that the minor signs of struggle hardly matter, why mention them? To each his/her own, but it's always good to ask if we're adding value to discussions. ps. Funny how the same poster who raises the issue of vocal fatigue or whatever also reminds us that she was late for the performance. Why even bother. Thanks for that. lol It's ultimately about a mindset.
