It would make you go "Hmmm" a coincidence that she chose that particular song right now out of the zillion songs? So if Whitney is doing Sparkle, then I can see why she would be connected right now to a song like "Precious Lord", which is btw imo a song she will sing in the movie.

If there are strong performances from the cast, wouldn't they want to showcase that on the soundtrack? Just seems odd to me. If Whitney is truly involved in either film, I would expect only a few songs on each soundtrack. Whitneyluva, please buy a bungee chord

Whitneyluva, please buy a bungee chord Lonnette McKee said what the studio offered them to do the soundtrack worked out to be pennies. She also said that Curtis Mayfield did not want them to do the contract which is why he set the keys for the songs out of their range. She said that (paraphrasing) that they weren't even aware that Aretha Franklin knew what was going on behind the scenes when she agreed to do the contract. So in a nutshell, they weren't going to make any money and Curtis M. did not want them to do it. Politics and basically artist raping.SparkleIt's not a musical in the vein of Dreamgirls although Dreamgirls does take inspiration from the movie. It's a drama agout a girl group trying to make it in Harlem with some memorable songs performed. It's also about how far one would go and what one would do to make it, the underbelly of the entertainment industry and of one of the sisters seeing her fream come through amidst personal family trajedy.

Like Burlesque and Cabaret are considered musicals even though all of their musical numbers are on a stage and they don't just break out into song. I'm thinking if Sparkle shoots in October, it will probably be done by December/January. Then it will go into post production until April/May, promo would begin this summer and then they would probably release it around November 2012, which is when most musicals and Oscar Bait films come out. I can see Getting To Happy starting in like Jan/Feb 2012 and then being released in December 2012 as well.
