I stop watching the news because everybody keeps talking about it like it some kind of controversy when the vast majority of americans use birth control. Its the hight of hypocrisy and although I'm not surprised at Obama's opponents using whatever they can find, especially since the economy is getting better, Its the media that drives me nuts as usual by going on and on about something that just doesn't make any sense. 28 state already have this law in place and we're freaking talking about universities and hospitals that hire thousands of employees from all walks of life... I hope Obama never says anything about it and let it just blow over, the kind of people who find this offensive were never gonna vote for him in the first place. anyway I needed somewhere to vent And on the RIck santorum topic, his biggest problem is not appearing presidential enough, he comes across like a Kid in an amusement park every time he has a major speech, and the long drawn out hug to his wife every time he speaks about her is kind of strange. I don't think he'll win at the end because he doesn't make a convincing case for himself, he had a big opportunity after the 3 state sweep but his speech that night was a disaster no real gravitas in his presentation.

If 98% of Catholic women already use birth control then what really is the issue here? Outside of trying to create an issue out of thin air for the sake of making it another "Government telling us how to live," when it only allows for birth control coverage for insurance plans, not mandating that people use birth control. In the 21st century overpopulation is the sin we should be more concerned about, not contraception. I am pissed that the President is bowing to the wishes of the "Almighty Catholic Church." I mean even King Henry VIII knew when it was time to stand up to the Catholic church and he had ulterior motives beyond good intentions. Coming from being raised in the Catholic church and school, I can tell you that I have no real issue with their doctrine outside of their stances on birth control, abortion and homosexuality. They typically are not the fringe hateful group that are holding up signs and protesting funerals. However the Catholic church has hands stained with blood over the centuries and they want to lecture people in this century over morality?

Exactly, their only interest is in defeating him, embarrassing him and maintaining that he is some kind of threat to the country. And we need to stop pandering to these religious institutions. I believe in their right to exist but I do not believe they need to have their grasp on the government of the United States.

Here's the response from the Catholic church. U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops: "While there may be an openness to respond to some of our concerns, we reserve judgment on the details until we have them...Today’s decision...is a first step in the right direction." Catholics United: "President Obama has shown us that he is willing to rise above the partisan fray to deliver an actual policy solution that both meets the health care needs of all employees and respects the religious liberty of Catholic institutions." I just think it is such a non-issue and Catholics and Conservatives were getting their panties in a bunch for absolutely nothing! I mean what do the Republicans have to complain about after all? The economy is slowly getting better after already crashing under President Bush. Obama has successfully begun the draw down of two wars and is ready to start slimming and trimming the military to make them more effective. He gave the order that captured and killed the man responsible for 9/11 and other terrorist attacks around the world. Mission Accomplished. He has provided health care to countless Americans who were unable to get healthcare due to pre-existing conditions. He has expanded the rights for all Americans, not just those that share his personal beliefs. So really things are stacking up well for him, IF the economy continues to improve.

Andrew Breitbart, the noted conservative Internet publisher and author, has died. He was 43. A statement posted on his website said that Breitbart died "unexpectedly from natural causes" this morning.
