Does anyone recall the Grammy's a few years ago when Beyonce claimed Tina to be HER queen? Someone takes her title a little too seriously sometimes. The clip of Aretha not knowing that Whitney saw her as a role model does reek a bit of shade being thrown. Isn't she supposedly Whitney's godmother as well? How could she not know?

I said at the time Tina has been called the Queen of Rock n' Roll for decades that's just the truth. I think Aretha took this too far having her publicist to release a statement about Bey, that just did not make any sense to me. Aretha pick up the phone call Bey. I think Bey and her father handled the entire thing well. The tribute was about Tina not any of those ladies.

The tribute was for Tina and Beyonce was clearly honouring who she felt was HER queen. She didn't flat out call her the Queen of Soul. She said, "the queen". Would Aretha have reacted the same way if someone had come out to honour Mary J who is undeniably the queen of hip hop, soul? Aretha takes her title very seriously (and with merit because she is), however contrary to popular belief not everything is always going to be about her.
